Let’s Select Your Comfort System

Selecting the right system for your home is easier than you think. Tell us about the house and how you use it, and we will help you compare a Good, Better or Best system against what your home actually needs. Have a pet and want to control dander or odors? We will make suggestions for that too. You can request a quote at the end.

What actually decides the right system

Most replacement quotes are written off the tag on the old unit. That is not a sizing method, it just repeats whatever decision someone made years ago. Four things genuinely determine what belongs in your home.

A real load calculation

Square footage, orientation, insulation, window area and shading, ceiling height, and where the ducts run. A house with west-facing glass and an uninsulated attic needs a different answer from an identical floor plan facing east. Matching the old tonnage skips all of it.

The ductwork you already have

In Central Florida the distribution system is often the real constraint, not the equipment. A new condenser pushed through undersized or leaking ducts will not fix a room that never cools. We look at the ducts before we talk about equipment, because sometimes correcting them is the cheaper and better answer.

Humidity, not just temperature

An oversized system cools to setpoint fast, shuts off, and never runs long enough to pull moisture out of the air. The house hits 74 degrees and still feels clammy. Going bigger makes that worse, not better. Correct sizing and airflow is what fixes it.

How long you plan to stay

A system you will own for fifteen years justifies efficiency that a system you will hand to the next owner in three does not. That is a financial question, not a technical one, and it is yours to answer. We will give you the numbers to answer it with.

Good, Better and Best, honestly

Every contractor shows you three tiers. Here is what the tiers actually mean once the sales language is stripped out.

Good

A single-stage system at the current minimum efficiency. It runs at full capacity or not at all. In a well-sealed house with sound ductwork it is perfectly adequate and it is the lowest up-front cost. It does the least for humidity.

Better

A two-stage system that can run at partial capacity. It runs longer at lower output, which is what actually dehumidifies, and it is quieter. In a Central Florida house this tier usually earns its price difference.

Best

A variable-speed or inverter system that modulates continuously. The best humidity control and the best comfort, and the highest cost to buy and to repair. Worth it in a large or hard-to-balance home, or where someone is home all day. Not automatically worth it everywhere, and we will say so.

What we will not do

  • Sell you more tonnage than the house calls for, because bigger is not better in this climate
  • Quote a replacement without telling you what a repair would cost and how long it would last
  • Replace equipment around ductwork we know is the actual problem
  • Put a system in a place where it cannot be serviced or drained properly

Already been quoted by someone else?

Bring us the quote. We will diagnose the equipment ourselves and give you the repair cost, how much life that repair realistically buys, and the replacement number, so you are choosing with all three in front of you. That is the whole idea behind our second opinions.

Tell us about the home and what it is doing now. We will come back with a recommendation and the reasoning behind it, not just a price. Prefer to talk it through? Call 407-405-2658.
