Living in Florida is unique, to say the least. An archipelago between to separately temperate bodies of water. This unique juxtaposition creates a very “wet” environment. This “wetness” manifests itself in large concentrations of water vapor in the air. Water vapor affects our comfort as much, if not more, than temperature. Larger volumes of water vapor create higher dew points (temperature of air that water will change to liquid) and wet bulb temperatures (Temperature at which air will no longer accept water or 100% saturated) while dew point and wet bulb temperature are close to each other on a temperature scale (.2-.8 degrees F typically) we are more concerned with wet bulb temperature as this is the factor in determining “relative humidity”. Relative humidity is the relationship between wet bulb and dry bulb (actual temperature of air) temperatures. The closer these two temperatures are the higher the “relative humidity is, the farther these two are apart the less the relative humidity. The bottom line is, no matter your humidity issues we can analyze, design, install and service. If you use another contractor to address these issues be sure to question his knowledge on humidity to verify competency to perform work properly.
